The 2019 season is officially on and running after the conclusion of Saturday's Gainesville Striders Invitational! More pics are on the way, but in the meantime, photos have been posted on our Facebook page and team website, www.tallahasseezoom.org. If you are not already following us on social media, please click one of the icons below to do so. We are proud of the effort we saw from everyone on Saturday! As we have indicated in the past, we train with the end goal in mind. We will continue to push our athletes and prepare for them for future success. With that, please join me in congratulating all of our medalists from this weekend's meet! #Zoom2019
After nearly 1600 miles traveled and being away from home for 6 days, the 2018 USATF JO Games is officially a wrap!
Zoom had a stellar showing and we saw our athletes excel all week long! Leading things off was Christian Lawrence in the triathlon. Christian battled through 3 grueling events and made All-American status with his 5th place finish! He followed that up later in the week with a 4th place medal-winning performance in the shotput. What a great first year with Zoom for Christian! Curtis Williams, our reigning national champion in the Long Jump, left no doubt on his 1st jump of competition and never relinquished his lead, earning ANOTHER National Championship in the long jump! He quickly followed that up with a medal in the High Jump, placing 4th overall and earning All-American status in that event as well. Curtis ends the year with 3 postseason medals to his name. Micahi Danzy had one thing on his mind entering his long jump competition: get on that podium! Micahi unleashed a huge jump in the prelims to make the final and finished 2nd in the country, earning his 1st- ever individual national medal. Next up were our 4x1 Relay teams. Our relay ladies, Ameion Hamlet, A'Kyrah O'Banner, Madison King, and Miahna Harden won their prelim race and then improved on their time in the finals to place 4th in the country and earn All-American status! The ladies, to no one's surprise, were quite pumped after their race. The 11-12yr old team of Kamari Jones, Isaiah & Elijah Bighem, and Micahi Danzy, entered Nationals with a strong belief that they could come away with a National title. When they made it through prelims with the #2 seed, it gave them even more confidence. In the finals, the guys executed flawlessly and ran away with the race, in a blazing 49.28 time to win their national title! On Sunday, the ladies on the 4x4 wanted close things out on a high note, and boy, did they deliver! The team of Miahna Harden, Nadia Collins, A'Kyrah O'Banner, and Madison King delivered a 4th place finish in an impressive time of 3:50.28! All in all, it was a very successful week, which saw Zoom wrap things with:

Despite competing against some teams who have 2-3 meets already under the belt, our athletes more than held their own. We had a chance to compete against some of Florida's best and came away with lessons learned, new Personal Records, and hopefully a renewed focus for the remainder of the season! Photos from this weekend's meet have already been posted (Facebook and website). Please feel free to tag yourselves in them and share with family and friends. This week please have your athletes at practice on time and ready to roll as we have lots of work to do before the Savannah Silver Cheetahs Invitational on 4/21. Congratulations to all who participated but a special shout out to this week's medal winners! We hope to see this list triple by the next meet! Congratulations goes out to Zoom's own Kevin Sawyer, who was named to the 2017 All-Big Bend football 1st Team this week. We have several athletes ranked in the top 10 nationally and we need your help as they take this final step towards accomplishing their goals. No donation is too small or large. All donations will go to help defray travel, lodging, and food costs for each family making the 16-hr trek from Tallahassee to Lawrence, Kansas. We ask that donations be made by Saturday, July 22.
