Another weekend and another outstanding Zoom team performance in the books! Tallahassee Zoom athletes showed their worth this past weekend at the University of North Florida during the 2017 Epitome of Excellence Track Invitational.

This weekend there is no meet, but we begin final preparations for the 3rd Annual Zoom Invitational. Parents please be on the look out for details this week as we look to get everyone on the same page regarding meet roles and assignments. Tallahassee Zoom did not let bad weather dampen its effort, as #ZoomNation competed this weekend at the 2017 Young Achievers Relay Games. Held at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, FL, Zoom athlete put the weather out of their minds and focused on the task at hand, accumulating 36 medals in an abbreviated day! Parents, thanks for working with us through the rain delays (and the man made ones as well) to make this past weekend another successful one! Congratulations goes out to all of our athletes who competed and put their best effort forward. Congratulations Eva Holmes, Dominic Larry, Maddison Green and Curtis Williams for representing Zoom to the utmost today at the FLYRA State Middle School Championship. Eva Holmes placed- 7th in Shotout and 5th in discus, earning medals in both of her events! Eva, a 3-sport star for NFC (basketball, softball and track) competed in only 2 other meets the entire season because she was playing softball!! Congrats Eva, Coach Philpott, and family! Dominic Larry has shown tremendous growth in the sprints this year and this meet was no different. Dom ran a blazing time of 11.24 in the 100 for 7th place and placed 5th in the 200 as well. Congrats Dominic and family! Maddison aided her Fairview teammates in both a 10th place finish in the 4x800 relay and an impressive 8th place finish in the 4x400 relay. Not too bad for a 6th GRADER huh?! Great job Maddison! Curtis Williams did not let two early fouls deter him from his goal of winning a medal at this Championship. Curtis unleashed a long jump of 20'6 to take the 1st place award! Way to go Curtis- your Zoom Family salutes your effort! #ChampionshipSeason #ZoomNation #ZoomStrong The 2017 FHSAA State Finals is in the books and Zoom athletes were able to secure 6 state medals over the weekend!
Akyrah O'Banner ended her freshman track campaign in style with 3 medals over the weekend. Dubbed the 'G.O.A.T' by teammates, Kyrah secured podium results in the 400m, 200m, and the 4x4 relay for Godby High! The future is very bright for this one folks.... Justin Peter had another stellar showing at the State Finals to end his high school track career. The USF Bulls signee finished the weekend with 3 medals as well, securing medals in the long jump, 300m hurdles, and the 4x4 relay for Leon High. Affectionately known as 'Just Blaze', Justin finishes his career as a 7-time State and 2-time National (AAU & USATF) medalist..... |
